Mrs. Heather Shinn
I have been blessed to be part of the Visitation Community for nearly 30 years. This will be my 18th year as librarian at the school. I have a degree in Elementary Education from UMKC. I have taught and worked with children all of my adult years. I very much enjoy sharing my love of reading with children.
K-6 Library
Our schedule for special classes allows your child the opportunity to spend time in the library every 6 school days. The students spend the class time looking for books, reading silently and taking Accelerated Reading quizzes. I do read aloud to the students in grades K-4.

Junior High Library
Each student will have a library class every 6 school days. Students have a folder in the library. In that folder will be a tracking sheet for each quarter. On each visit, students will write down what book they are currently reading for pleasure and how they spent their time in class i.e. homework, reading or visiting with friends. The students will be assigned a number of points to earn each quarter by taking quizzes using the Accelerated Reader Program on the books they have read. Students are expected to do at least 30 minutes of outside reading each day. At the end of the quarter a percentage of points earned will be given to Mrs. Barnosky and Mrs. Woods .
