Kindergarten- 6th Grade Tech Class

 

This year we will be using two new tools to assess students' technology knowledge and progress them along on the road to being compentent in the use of technology. These tools are Competency Folders and Google Classroom.

 

Compentency Folders- 

Essentially Folders that track their progress through the outlined curriculum. These folders will allow students the freedom of choice in their activity while reinforcing information being covered in their grade level curriculum in core classes. All while continuing to teach them how to use technology to support their learning goals.

 

K-3 will have actual folders that the will pick up at the begining of class and I will track their progress. K-3 will also continue to work on the proper typing skills needed to be successful later in life by using the BBC Typing Dance Mat Typing program. They will be required to complete three levels each semster along with their other assignments. 

 

In grades 4-6 we will focus on researching, paper writing, using spreadsheets and presentation software. We will also be using competency folders but in a virtual setting. All of their assignments and their competency folder will be housed on Google Classroom. I invite you to ask your student to show you around their virtual classroom at home.
