Junior High Electives

 

Publications (Offered both semesters):

Students in Publications class are responsible for the publication of our Annual Yearbook at Visitation. During Yearbook they will also learn about copy writing, editing, photography, photo editing and several other journalism topics. Students in Publications are also responsible for the publication of our online student newspaper (new this year!) called the Shamrock. Students will also learn about the topics covered above in the Yearbook section. To read the latest edition click here!

 

Coding (Offered both semesters):

In Coding class, students will begin to learn the basics of computer programing language, we will look specfically at Logo, Python and Java. We will also learn the problem solving process and design process through code meet ups. Why Coding should be a mandatory class in Jr. High.

 

Intro to Design (Offered both semesters):

In Intro to Design students will learn about the elements and principles of design, copy writing, marketing , editing and even Interior Design. The students will learn to use the full suite of Adobe Creative software.

 

*All electives utilize individual and team (cooperative learning) instruction. As part of their preparation for the real world I feel that it is equally important for them to learn to work in groups as it is to work on their own.
